Pakistan Customs has intensified enforcement operations, recovering smuggled gold, silver, and other illegal goods worth more than Rs806 million during the first five months of the current fiscal year. Officials say these efforts reflect the government’s commitment to protecting the national economy and curbing illicit trade.
Between July and November 2025, customs authorities intercepted 234 tolas of gold (approx. 2.7 kg) and 30,800 tolas of silver (approx. 359 kg) at international airports across Pakistan. The seized gold is valued at Rs100.67 million, while the silver is worth Rs205.67 million, bringing the total value of precious metals to over Rs306 million.
Authorities noted a sharp rise in silver smuggling attempts, driven by strict import controls and a surge in market prices, which have more than doubled in recent months.
In a separate crackdown, Customs Enforcement Quetta recovered smuggled goods worth around Rs500 million from warehouses in and around the city. Confiscated items included betel nuts, cigarettes, medicines, milk powder, auto spare parts, and misdeclared food items.
All seized goods are now in custody, and legal action under the Customs Act has been initiated against the offenders.
Officials emphasized that the operations will continue across the country to combat smuggling and illegal trade, safeguard revenue, and stabilize market prices. The crackdown aims to discourage smugglers and ensure compliance with national trade and import regulations.
