The fourth season of the DP World ILT20 gets underway today at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, promising high-energy cricket and plenty of excitement for fans. The opening match will see defending champions Dubai Capitals face last year’s runners-up, the Desert Vipers, in what is expected to be a thrilling encounter.
The tournament kicks off with a grand opening ceremony featuring global music star Ali Zafar at 6 PM local time, adding glitz and glamour to the cricketing extravaganza.
Afghanistan all-rounder Gulbadin Naib returns to lead Dubai Capitals with renewed confidence. Speaking ahead of the match, Naib said the team is eager to replicate last season’s success and leverage their experience in UAE conditions.
He highlighted that the squad includes several new players ready to make their mark in what he described as a “mega event”. With strong batting and bowling resources, Capitals aim to set a high standard from the outset.
The Desert Vipers, led by New Zealand pace star Lockie Ferguson, are determined to go one step further this season. Ferguson praised the squad’s team spirit and welcomed the addition of bowlers Naseem Shah, David Payne, and Khuzaima Tanveer, which adds significant depth and firepower to their attack.
The Vipers hope to combine experience and emerging talent to challenge for the title.
Season 4 introduces a player auction for the first time, bringing new strategies and excitement to team compositions. Players from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait will also participate, broadening the talent pool and highlighting the expanding reach of UAE cricket.
A total of six teams will compete in 34 matches, culminating in the grand final on January 4, 2026, promising a full month of high-octane cricket action.
