Pakistan has expressed deep concern over the recent situation in Venezuela, warning that ongoing developments could pose serious risks to global peace and security. The statement was delivered by Acting Permanent Representative Usman Jadoon during a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting on Tuesday.
Jadoon highlighted that the world is already facing multiple crises, and escalating tensions in the Caribbean could create new threats to both regional and international stability. He stressed that any further escalation must be avoided to prevent worsening the situation.
Speaking at the council, Jadoon emphasized that political disputes can only be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. Pakistan views the ongoing turmoil in Venezuela with grave concern, particularly in light of overlapping global crises that are already straining international systems.
He reminded members of the UN Charter, underlining that all nations must respect sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence. Jadoon warned that the use or even the threat of force violates these principles and undermines the international legal order.
Pakistan urged all parties involved in Venezuela to exercise restraint, reduce tensions, and seek peaceful solutions. The country called for sincere dialogue and mediation that respects the will of the Venezuelan people while rejecting external interference.
Jadoon expressed hope that Latin America and the Caribbean remain zones of peace, stability, and prosperity. He emphasized that stronger regional cooperation is vital to maintain security and economic growth in the area.
The Pakistan statement underlines concerns that the situation in Venezuela is not just a regional issue but has broader global implications. Rising instability could worsen geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, and security challenges worldwide.
As diplomatic discussions continue, Pakistan’s call for dialogue highlights the importance of multilateral solutions through the UN framework, urging the international community to work collectively for peace.
