Dubai: Pakistan delivered a commanding performance to defeat arch-rivals India by a massive 191 runs, clinching the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup title in emphatic fashion on Sunday.
In a one-sided final played in Dubai, Pakistan’s young guns outclassed India in all departments, showcasing maturity, skill, and confidence under pressure. The win marks Pakistan’s first outright Under-19 Asia Cup triumph, ending the tournament on a historic high.
After India won the toss and chose to field, Pakistan’s batters made them regret the decision almost immediately. Opener Sameer Minhas produced a sensational knock, smashing 172 runs off just 113 balls. His innings, filled with 17 fours and nine towering sixes, was the backbone of Pakistan’s huge total.
Minhas received solid support from Ahmad Hussain (56) and Usman Khan (35), while captain Farhan Yousaf added 19 valuable runs. Pakistan finished on a formidable 347 for 8, putting relentless pressure on the Indian bowling attack.
For India, Devendra Patel claimed three wickets, while Khilan Patel and Kanishk Chauhan chipped in with a wicket each.
Chasing a daunting 348, India never found momentum. Pakistan’s disciplined and aggressive bowling attack dismantled the Indian batting line-up, restricting them to 156 runs.
Indian wickets fell regularly, with opener Ayush Mhatre dismissed for just two, followed by Vaibhav Suryavanshi (26) and Aaron George (49). The lack of partnerships sealed India’s fate early in the chase.
Before the final, captain Farhan Yousaf had expressed confidence in his squad’s preparation and mindset — words that proved prophetic. Pakistan had earlier reached the final by defeating defending champions Bangladesh in the semi-final, while India beat Sri Lanka.
This victory adds another proud chapter to Pakistan’s youth cricket legacy. The team had previously shared the Under-19 Asia Cup with India in 2012 and has also won the ICC Under-19 World Cup twice.
