Madinah authorities have officially announced revised visiting hours for Ziyarat at the Holy Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) grave and for Nawafil prayers at Riyadh al-Jannah, aiming to improve crowd management and ensure a smoother experience for pilgrims.
The updated schedule was shared by the Institute of Haramin Sharifeen Affairs, which oversees arrangements at Masjid Nabawi. The new timings apply to both male and female pilgrims and are designed to balance accessibility with safety inside one of Islam’s holiest sites.
Under the revised plan, male visitors can perform Ziyarat at the Prophet’s (PBUH) grave during two main time windows:
On Fridays, special arrangements will be in place. Male pilgrims will be allowed to visit the sacred chamber after Friday prayers until Isha, accommodating the large congregation that gathers for Jumu’ah.
Female pilgrims have also been allocated specific times to ensure organized access:
On Fridays, women will be permitted to perform Ziyarat from Fajr prayer until 9:00 AM, allowing early-morning access before peak crowds arrive.
Officials stressed that these timings are strictly monitored to avoid overcrowding and to maintain a respectful atmosphere within the mosque.
The Institute of Haramin Sharifeen Affairs said the updated schedule is part of ongoing efforts to improve crowd control, especially during peak Umrah seasons and Fridays when Masjid Nabawi sees a significant increase in visitors.
By dividing visiting hours and assigning clear time slots, authorities aim to reduce congestion, prevent long waiting times, and ensure that pilgrims can perform Ziyarat and Nawafil prayers peacefully.
Security staff and volunteers will continue guiding pilgrims and ensuring that the rules are followed for the comfort of all worshippers.
Pilgrims are advised to plan their visits according to the updated schedule and follow official instructions inside the mosque. Authorities also recommend checking official announcements regularly, as timings may be adjusted during Ramadan, Hajj season, or special occasions.
The new Ziyarat timings reflect Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to manage growing pilgrim numbers while preserving the sanctity of holy sites. Officials say the changes will help ensure that every visitor gets a fair chance to offer prayers and pay respects in an orderly and dignified manner.
